Setting Camera Transport Protocol

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

By default, DW Spectrum automatically determines which RTP media streaming protocol to use for a camera: UDP (faster, but less reliable) or TCP (more reliable, but slower). However, sometimes a camera may have issues streaming via the automatically selected protocol. If that is the case, you can manually set the RTP protocol as follows.

1.Use the camera's context menu to open Camera Settings > Expert > Media Streaming.

2.In the RTP Transport menu select Auto, TCP, or UDP.

3.Click Apply or OK when finished. To discard changes, click Cancel.

! IMPORTANT: Do not change these settings unless you are absolutely sure of their potential impact on your system performance.

Media Port

You have the option to change the port used for a particular stream by checking the option Custom Media Port.

Timestamp

This option will make the server trust timestamps coming from the camera, as long as the time difference between the server and camera is less than 10 seconds. In this mode, network delay doesn’t affect the timestamp. To enable it check the option Trust camera timestamp.
